Last month Warnell hosted it’s very first, as in never done before, CAMP OUT! The camp out was held in our teaching forest, Whitehall Forest, just 10 minutes away from our main building on campus.
Why camp in Whitehall, you ask? Let me tell you! Whitehall is only open M-F and for special events; this my friend, was a special event. We invited over 100 Pre-Professional students (freshman and sophomores working on completing pre-requisite classes for their major level classes) to get pumped up about their majors and all the things awaiting them in the next 2-3 years. Let’s face it, UGA is HUGE and going to club events when you don’t know anyone can be intimidating. The camp out was an opportunity to connect new Warnell Dawgs with professors, upperclassmen, and other pre-profs. Our clubs also came out and set up field challenges to give new students a taste of the classes they’ll take in their junior and senior year.
Since this year was a success, we plan to do it again next year – bigger and better!
