While being an intern for the Georgia DNR, I got to experience another great opportunity in searching for Pigeon Mountain Salamanders in Pigeon Mountain, Georgia with Herpetologist, Daniel Sollenberger. Pigeon Mountain Salamanders are very unique because they are only found on one singular mountain in the entire world, Pigeon Mountain. After hours of searching high and low in caves and crevices, we finally found one of these beautiful animals! We found one particular spot behind a waterfall that had three Pigeon Mountain Salamanders hanging around. Getting to see these awe-inspiring creatures is truly something I will never forget!
